Passionate Educator. Dedicated Public Servant. Finance Expert.

My core belief is a public institution of higher education should serve the people and society. It is the foundation upon which a great Colorado is built. In all ways it must provide the finest accessible, equitable and successful education. It must produce outstanding, beneficial research.

My belief derives from almost 25 years in post-secondary education. I am a product of the University of Colorado. I earned my Ph.D. in Financial Economics at CU Boulder and I am a long-time Leeds School of Business faculty member (part-time since ’96 and full-time since ’02). I’ve taught north of 5,000 students in formats ranging from large undergraduate “mega sections” to small graduate seminars. I have developed curricula at the program and course level and at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I am also the Associate Chair of the Finance Division.

At Leeds, I was the founding Director of two professional masters programs, responsible for developing the curriculum, marketing and recruiting, admissions and on-boarding, student services, career placement and alumni relations.

I have served on budget, faculty governance and diversity committees. I am the past chair of the Boulder Faculty Assembly Budget and Planning Committee and a former member of the Academic Affairs Budget Advisory Committee.

In addition, I’ve been very active in the Boulder County non-profit community. I’m in my second term as President of the Dairy Arts Center after serving for four years as its Treasurer. I’m a former Treasurer of Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center and a former member of the Foothills United Way Investment Advisory Committee. I am a former Partner at Social Venture Partners of Boulder County through which I provided financial consulting to non-profits and presented non-profit financial management seminars. I am also the Outside Expert member of the Boulder City Council Audit Subcommittee.

I am running for Regent because I believe my skills and experience as an educator, public servant and financial expert will ensure that CU provides the finest education which benefits all of the people of Colorado.
